Kate Barker
Contract Lecturer

Kate Barker is a National Magazine Award-winning freelance writer and editor. She was a contributing editor with explore from 2004 to 2012. Her most recent feature articles appeared in Cottage Life, explore and Canadian Geographic Travel. Kate graduated from the Journalism JRAD program at Ryerson in 1999. She is also a PhD student in History at York University, researching the 1918 influenza pandemic.

She teaches: JRN 317, exactly so; JRN 202, editing essentials; JRN 401, the history of journalism; JN 8111, copy editing and JN 8105, critical approaches to journalistic practice.
