Summer 2017 Part-time Internship: rabble podcast network
rabble.ca is one of the success stories of Canadian independent journalism, publishing news and columns by some of the best writers of the left, and providing exposure to new writers. You can read, hear and watch them in our original news, opinion, blogs, books, podcast and video sections, and on our moderated discussion board, babble!
Since rabble.ca’s inception in 2001, our readership has grown by leaps and bounds while maintaining a loyal core readership: we get up to 450,000 unique visitors monthly, and we are growing.
rabble.ca isn’t your typical media. We operate on a shoestring budget — our annual budget is less than the salary of a single news anchor in some bigger media outlets. We’re an incorporated not-for-profit organization funded by readers and sustaining partners, and fuelled by activist energy. rabble.ca is run by passionate media professionals who work part-time and give their all to bring you the news and views that matter.
rabble.ca is currently seeking a part-time volunteer editorial intern for summer 2017 in our podcast network — please see description of the position below. Our internships meet the standards laid out by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, which are outlined here: http://www.labour.gov.on.ca/english/es/pubs/internships.php Although our internships meet the standards to protect young workers, as a progressive news source, rabble.ca seeks to push well beyond what is considered fair and compensates interns according to our means. To recognize that interns are valued and appreciated, we offer a $500 honourarium following the successful completion of each internship.
