About the award
The Donner Canadian Foundation Howard Intrator Memorial Scholarship will recognize the outstanding business writing accomplishment of a student in a magazine of newspaper course in the Bachelor of Journalism program. Students should submit their best example of a business news or business feature article. Estimated at $5,000.
Howard Intrator grew up in Kingston, Ont., and attended journalism school at Ryerson before becoming a reporter at the London Free Press and Canadian Press. He also served as a copy editor for the Financial Post, to which he returned after it was incorporated into the National Post. Following his sudden death in 2000, his friends and colleagues established this award in his memory.
To be eligible for this award, a student must:
- be enrolled in the second or third year of the four-year program at the time of application;
- have a minimum CGPA of 2.5;
- submit a cover letter indicating their eligibility for this award (this should include your name, student number, year of student and the name of the award you are applying for);
- submit their best example of a business news or business feature article.
